Blame Thoreau

Just because you went to school and where forced to read Thoreau doesn’t mean that you weren’t multitasking  or put another way fantasizing about the girl or boy at the next desk when you should have be making mental notes that would serve you for the rest of your life.

So being the kindly soul that I am I have decided to give you this snippet from page 27 of Where I Lived and What I Lived For by America’s greatest dead philosopher.

I say dead because at this moment in time I am still alive but then again I am being a Mick I may not qualify for the title of greatest American anything.

“””I cannot believe that our factory system  is the best mode by which men may get clothing. The condition of the operatives is becoming every day more like that of the English; and it cannot be wondered at, since, as far as I have heard or observed, the principal object is, not that mankind may be well and honestly clad, but, unquestionably, that corporations may be enriched. In the long run men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, though they should fail immediately, they had better aim at something high.”””

So what do you think, we go to school and we call Thoreau things like brillent, great, profound, inciteful and so on etc. And then we run the country is a diametrically opposed direction to a philosophy that we call brillent.

Go figure!!!!!!!
